How to Care for Your Cosmetics During Hot Weather

When the temperature rises, we all feel it... and so can our cosmetics.

During periods of exceptionally warm weather, products may arrive a little softer than usual after spending time in delivery vans or postal depots. The good news? In most cases, this is completely normal and temporary. Here's how to keep your favourite VE Cosmetics products performing at their best.

    Lipsticks

Lipsticks are designed to soften slightly with your body temperature to glide comfortably onto the lips. During a heatwave, they may become a little softer in transit.

If your lipstick arrives feeling warm, simply allow it to cool to room temperature before applying. Avoid leaving it in direct sunlight, on window sills or inside a hot car.

    Lip Liners & Eye Pencils

Our pencils are formulated to be creamy and highly pigmented, giving smooth application without dragging across the skin. If a pencil has become warm during transit, sharpening it immediately may cause the tip to crumble or snap.

    Instead:

    • Allow the pencil to cool first.

    • For the sharpest point, place it in the fridge for 20–30 minutes before sharpening.

    • Use a clean, sharp cosmetic sharpener.

Once cooled, your pencil should sharpen beautifully.

Heat can affect all creamy cosmetic pencils, regardless of brand. It's simply the nature of richly pigmented, comfortable formulas, and thankfully, it's usually very easy to remedy.

    Cream Products

Cream blushes, multi use colours and other rich formulations may temporarily soften in high temperatures. This doesn't usually affect performance. Simply allow the product to cool before use and avoid storing it in excessively warm environments.

    Liquid Products

Lip stains, eyeliners and similar liquid formulas are generally less affected by warm weather, although we still recommend storing them away from direct sunlight and ensuring lids are closed tightly after use.

    Why Does Heat Affect Cosmetics?

Many cosmetic products contain waxes, oils and butters that soften as temperatures increase. These ingredients are often what makes a product feel comfortable to wear. Rich, creamy formulations provide beautiful payoff and effortless blending, but they can become temporarily softer during unusually hot weather.

This doesn't mean your product has gone bad, it simply needs a little time to cool.
