🖤 Turning Down Power, Choosing Purpose 🖤
Â
We were recently invited to the House of Lords as part of Small Business Britain — an honour on paper, and one that many would leap at. But we’ve chosen to decline.
Why? Because at VE Cosmetics, we don’t just wear our ethics — we live them.
After visiting Parliament last year with The League Against Cruel Sports, something inside me shifted. The towering walls draped in gold, the endless displays of wealth and grandeur — all funded while people in this country freeze, starve, and fight to survive. It left a sour taste I couldn’t shake. That building, that system... it doesn’t represent me, and it doesn’t represent the values this brand was built on.
I’m proud of what we’ve achieved as a fiercely independent, vegan-owned brand — and I don’t need a ceremony in a palace to validate that. Recognition is lovely, but integrity will always come first.
Instead of travelling down to London, I’ve donated the travel and expenses budget — £121.91 — to Jessie’s Fund: a small UK charity providing music therapy for children with complex needs. They don’t receive government funding and rely solely on donations. They were suggested by our incredible Facebook community, and the choice felt absolutely right.
✨ Real change doesn’t come from gold-plated rooms. It comes from acts of care, rebellion, and compassion.
Thank you for walking this path with us — where every spell cast is rooted in purpose.
